Fires - There are many reason that can cause a car to catch on fire. The water used to put out even a small fire can get into the engine and interior. Many times the car has to have windows replaced and be repainted. Fire can damage important hoses and mechanical parts. All this information is stored under VIN numbers. Rentals - Imagine buying another car and then finding out that it had been driven by hundreds of people through a rental company? It's hard to image a car like this having much value, but rental vehicles are often sold for the same price as other vehicles. Rental vehicles are proven problem vehicles that typically have a much shorter life span than vehicles with identical miles.
